Problems with Miniatronics Reversing Unit
Posted by milwaukee on Saturday, March 20, 2010 8:58 AM
I've just purchased a new Miniatronics RU 1-1 reversing unit and it is not working. I have all the wires connected where the instructions say to have them. The LED's on the board will not light,I've turned the pots in both directions and nothing.I do have 12 volts to the board from the supplied transformer. Is there somthing I'm missing or is there a way of testing the board.

I don't have and have never used one of these, but the description on their web site says there are some sensors involved -- have you tried putting something close to the sensor for the board to detect?

When all else fails, contact Miniatronics.

I have tested the sensors, and still don't have anything working.I think so far I will contact Miniatronics and talk to a tech., unless someone on the forum has an answer. Thanks for your input.

Have you hooked your power supply up also?  Appears from the instructions you have both the transformer/power and the 12v wall wart hooked into the unit.  I have yet to hook mine up.  Let me know if it works!

A fellow member, Curt, has similar problems.

Here is a link to the thread he posted:

I hooked my unit up today on a test section of track.  Nothing, nada, no LED lights.  The supplied wall wart read 15.48V, supposed to be 12v, but I'm guessing this is within the margin of safety of the components.  I have emailed Miniatronics, I notice it doesn't show up on their site UNLESS you do a search.....................Hhhmmm!

Reverse polarity on the wall wart, works perfectly.  This was advice from Miniatronics.  Bill

Seem to have problems posting...perhaps being new.  The Miniatronics solution: reverse the wall wart polarity, mine works perfectly now!
