I have a Broadway Mikado I would like to add a rear headlight to and was wondering the same thing.

I'm pretty sure it would have light outputs, I would look here at the QSI website and see which one looks most like the one in the engine, and then look at the info available there to see where it's outputs are. It may require some fine soldering to hook it up but I suspect it's doable.

As a last ditch, there are some LED's out there that come pre-wired to resistors and diodes so you can use them directly from DCC track power. It would mean the lights would always be on but would be better than no lights at all. You can get them from Walthers website.

It's possible that QSI made a special board for the F3B that does not have light outputs.  Since P2K is a division of Walthers, I think you need to contact them for advice.  Their customer service people are usually pretty good about answering questions about their products.

I looked the board over and found some numbers on the under side of it.

 050-0064-00

I cant find any reference to this on QSI's site.  I notice too that the chip its self has F3B on it.  Would it be possible it has no light functions to even be able to access?  I just kinda figured they would not have gone threw the trouble of making a separate chip for their B units.

If you can get the QSI part number off of the board, you can then download the manual from their web site that will show the schematic of the board for wiring purposes.

Another way to determine what you have is to query CV 7, which will give you a Hex number readout of the decoder version.  Convert the Hex number to decimal that that will tell you which manual you need to download.

Adding lights to a QSI Board without lights
Posted by northernsubpcrr on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 9:21 AM

 Hello,

I recently purchased a Proto 2000 F3B with sound.  I love it it sounds pretty good.  I bought it with the intentions of placing an A unit shell on it.  Well after some heavy frame modification the new shell is on and it all runs fine.

QUESTION:  Now I assume the board for this is the same as a from the factory A unit.  On the B there are no lights.  So if I want to ad lights where to I hook them in?  There are alot of empty spots.  Any one have one they can examin and explain  how thiers is set up.

    Thanks in advance,

Jason
