I have'nt had a layout since I was 14. A lot has changed in 30 years, and I have what may be a pretty basic situation to most of you. I am currently in the process of building a new HO scale DC layout with EZ Track and have a question concerning wiring of the 2 # 6 cross overs I plan to use. I have already bought a # 6 left hand as well as a # 6 right hand cross over.
My plan is at times to allow single train movement from my outer main line to an inner oval, while at other times independantly operating a separate train on the main line and the inner oval.I have placed the cross overs together end to end. The train will exit the main line via a left cross over to the inner oval. It will makes it's way around the inner oval then exit back onto the main line via the right hand cross over.Since it will exit back onto the main travelling in the original direction, I'm thinking I will not be causing a reverse loop. Now if I am correct on that assumption, how and at what location or locations do I insulate the rails to allow trains to independantly operate on the outer main line and the inner oval.
