IIRC, there are issues with some of the older Soundtraxx decoders with regards to the 'inrush' required to charge up capacitors when they started up. Not so much the LC series as their higher end models. This is still an issue with some of their current decoders.
For example:I've just installed a Tsunami TSU-750 in my Kato GS-4, and found that my PR3 (standalone) couldn't program it - some of the CVs wouldn't take. When I attempted to program it on my Lenz system's programming track, it failed the first attempt at CV readback, then worked normally for all others, which would be consistent with the decoders 'charging up' the first time you try to read them.
Based on this, I'd say that the problem you're having is more to do with the way the decoders work, rather than your MS100.
Hope this helps,

Hey Guys
I am using Decoder Pro with an MS 100 Interface to the Loco Net. The problem is inconsistency. Some times the decoder will take the insructions and sometimes it won't. I do most of the programiing in OPS mode. The decoders are mostly older Sound Traxx and work perfectly in other regards.
Do I need to replace the MS 100 and if so with what?
