Do some homework. Do a Google search for DCC decoders. You will get many hits. Look at the various specs. Some are labeled, dual mode. There are different types of decoders, some sound, some not sound, some with a lot of bells and whistles, some very basic.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
NO !
Some of the early production models were not DC compatible at all. SoundTraxx LC decoders, for instance, could not run on DC.
Depends on what you mean by "compatible". All DCC compliant NMRA decoders can be placed on a DC powered track without damage.
Will they run on DC? Depends on the decoder's options and its settings. So the answer to that would be NO if that's what "compatible" means.
