DCC and Sound for Kato Rsc-2
Posted by UPABILENE on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 7:14 PM

Hi: I have just purchased 2 Kato RSC-2's that are dcc ready and am trying to find out what sound decoder will work best? Also what work needs to be done to install speakers and which ones to use? I am kind of new at this and want to make the proper selection for the best results.  Thanks for any info in advance.

Wow,  good luck there is not a whole heck of a lot of room in there.  You will have to remove the weights if they are 2 seperate weights over the trucks.  If it is a metal frame you will probably have to mill some out to have room for the works.  I am not familiar with the rsc-2 but I have done simple decoder installs in the rs-1, rs-3 and rsd 4-5 engines and have had to cut down the weight and light bar just to get the decoder and leds to fit.

I know it can be done I saw it on a modular layout last year.  He said it was very tight and had to do some surgery to get it to fit

alco's forever!!!!! Majoring in HO scale Minorig in O scale:)
