Speaker Question
Posted by indiana rr on Sunday, February 7, 2010 11:10 PM

I have an HO scale Athearn SD40-2 with a Tsunami AT-1000.  The problem is I can not fit the approximately 1.5"x3/8"x1/2" MRC rectangular speaker into the body.  I looked at Soundtraxx 3/8" diameter speaker and that seems to be exactly what I am looking for.  Does the small Soundtraxx speaker have sound quality as good as its larger counterparts?

I would suggest a Soundtraxx Mini-Oval speaker. Unfortunately I don't have the part number handy, but I put one in a Proto 200 GP20 and it sounds great. Most Soundtraxx speakers are 8 ohm.

You might check out the following links for comparable speakers:

Both Tony's and Litchfield Station are reliable and their prices and service can't be beat.;

Good luck.
