 Are you using DC or DCC ? ?  Many brands of motors whine if you are trying to run your layout using DC control, even if you have a DCC decoder installed, or whine on DCC if you don't have a decoder installed. 

The Zimo decoder should have an adjustable output frequency that will stop the motor whine.  The lights can be turned off using your FL or 0 function key.

Hi everybody,does any body know what is causing my above loco to sit and whine with front and rear lights on when track power is turned on it is fitted with a Zimmo back emf decoder MX64R which is working fine.I seem to remember someone covering this in the past but don't seem to be able to find any reference to it now.Hope someone can help,Kindest regards Clive,England.
