Try reprogramming the address. That decoder is probably set for 128 sped steps and IIRC, the original Prodigy did 14 speed steps. Resetting the address may set CV29 to 14 speed steps during the process.

 What loco, what scale?

Some of the N scale decoders are a little thin.  You can sometimes bend the motor contact a bit to improve the contact, or tin the pads on the decoder to add a little thickness.

Also, make sure the wheels are clean.

I also have an original Prodigy.  Can't do much with it.  Does the loco run when you are in the run mode?

Jeff But it's a dry heat!

   Hey guys,

Bought a loco,an Atlas diesel with a Lenz decoder already installed.

It surges or needs a push even on the programming track.

It is a drop in,where you have to split the engine and install the decoder.

Is there an adjustment that needs to be done to help it work better.

BTW,i have an original MRC Prodigy but cant replace it at this time.

   Thanks in Advance.
