Not having done it yet, but planning to do so in the near future, my thought would be the Tsunami TSU-AT1000.  Its a drop in board.  The biggest fun I forsee is finding room for the speaker.  Hope this helps.

I installed a LokSound with their dual 5/8 inch speaker and sound chamber. The Tsunami is a good choice also but was not available when I added sound to my CR RS-11. Either way there is plenty of room for a drop in or hardwired sound decoder. I have used the Tsunami in my ATLAS Reading C-424 and am very pleased with it.

I removed the weight from one end to mount the LokSound dual speaker and enclosure. At first I thought this would reduce pulling power but unless you are pulling 20 or 30 frieght cars you will not miss the extra weight. I do the same thing with my ALCO RS-3's. You might consider removing the weight from the cab end and fill in with weight in the cab and battery boxes but even than I have found this to not be required as my layout is a switching layout.

One good thing about the LokSound is that you do not have a large capacitor to hide. Both Tony's and Litchfield Staion have these components or better yet order them from you local Hobby Shop if this is your first installation, that way they can help you as well as this forum.

I'm in the process of installing a Tsunami into mine - the direct-replacement circuit board.  I'm putting a bass-reflex speaker over the rear truck, and this obviously means that the rear weight is removed. My RS-11 is in SP Black widow livery, and I've added the big SP light package to both ends, via Details West.  However, rather than mess about with the (for me) tricky installation of working rear lights through the speaker, I'll install MV lenses.  If I want an individually working front Mars light and headlight, there won't be much of the front weight left either.  But the loco seems to be heavy enough for my needs without the weights anyway.

Good grief!  What else do you want (other than someone doing it for you)?

You've been served with two detailed and helpful replies on what two people have done with two different sound decoders, plus reference to other sites where further help can be obtained.  Any more is repetition.

There's no magic wand.  You have to spend the same sweat that we all did.  Life is not fair.

You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometime, you just might find you get what you need...

"NOT MUCH REPLY HERE sorry about the yell" is what you said.  Additionally, the use of capital letters denotes SHOUTING - most uncool.

I thought it was a friendly place too, and I offered you some friendly advice.  That's why I  took exception to your own intemperate and distinctly unfriendly reply, following some in-depth advice giving you the exact information you claimed to seek.  You made absolutely no acknowlegement of what had been given in reply to you, possibly because it did not meet with your expectations.

And you seem to feel able to take no responsibility for perhaps being less than friendly yourself.

And, no, I'm most certainly NOT "a pro".  I've made more mistakes along the way than most and will make some more, but I've learned through experience that I don't get something for nothing, and that to learn, you have to be courteous to those you ask for help.  Why are you seemingly entitled to tell me that "If (I) don't like a post, don't read it", when you have obviously felt fine commenting on mine?

All I'm asking you to do is to take some responsibility for what you've written.  If we all did so, this forum would be a far more pleasant place to learn from.
