Marc,
I built a couple of Rob Paisley's sensor boards...He provided the boards (very reasonable cost), I bought and installed the components. They work well and were a fraction of the cost of pre-assembled boards

Hi again,
Thanks for the answers and Merry Christmas.

Just do a 'Net search for model railroad opto sensor.
I just did. Quite a few links show up. This will give you some experience on searching for stuff and you can keep the links in Favorites and be able to give back to the forum for others in the future.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Rob Paisley's site is a good starting point.

Hi from Belgium,
I am in the way to put a signal system on my Nscale Maclau River.
I don't want a computerized system but a system whith some safety faiture for block or mainline run.
I have seen some good results with opto sensor to switch the signals and to protect some block.
Unfortunately lot of the already made sensor board are quite expensive if you need a lot of them.
So I am looking for home made board using a very sensitive sensor which is not to much influenced by exteriors factors.
Any proposal?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Belgium.
