I use NOTHING but electronics grade solder on all of my soldering projects (excluding house plumbing). Radio Shack and Unicorn Electronics are two good sources of rosin core solder. NEVER use acid core solder on electronics as it will eventually corrode the connections.
It sounds like you are off to a good start. I have that soldering station and LOVE IT!
