Use this calculator: http://www.2mm.org.uk/articles/cv29%20calculator.htm to determine the values you need for CV17, 18, and 29.

Put the loco on your main track and select it (should still be on address 3 - hit the horn to verify you are addressing the correct loco).

Press the Prgm button until the display says OPS. Press the CV key. Key in 17. Press the CV key. Key in the value for CV17 from the calculator. Press CV WR. Press Exit. Repeat for CV18, and finally CV29.

Now the address of your loco will be the desired 4-digit address and it won't work on address 03 anymore.

Digtrax Zephyr address problems

Dear rrinker your help was invaluable, i had kind of the same problems because my Digitrax Zephyr couldn't change the Address of my ATLAS FM Trainmaster to Rd No#3035. Now with your help and the Address Calculator i was able to do just that. I owe you man, Kudos to you many thanks as i was half way of tossing the *** thing out (i bought it used from ebay and i had my doupts). God bless you man. Now another thing i have 3 other DCC Equipped locos and i don't have a clue as to what type/brand of decoder each one has how can i program them to a new 4 digit address? My damned Zephyr can't read addresses in the programing track, i keep getting a dnd error message.

On which locos? If they have sound, most likely the won't be able to be read without a program track booster. If they have MRC sound decoders, they most likely can't be read no matter what.

Just to check the obvious - the wires to the program track do NOT go into adjacent holes on the connector - the GND connection is in the middle. Also, is your program track a totally separate piece of track, in no way connected to they layout? And is it clean, and are the wires well connected? And not too long - try just a foot or so of wire fromt he program track terminals to a piece of track.

If you're sure all of the above is ok, you should try a known standard decoder - either open one of those locos and find out what decoder brand and model it is, or get a new one for a non-decodered loco. If none of this works, your Zephyr may need a vacation to Florida.
