Have you ever heard of such a thing?

I'm having some serious issues programing the decoder in my Athearn F7 Super Chief. I have an A unit as well as the B, when it comes to the A unit there is no problems I'm able o reduce the volume settings on any CV I choose. Not so with the B unit, can't get the diesel volume to come down to the same level as he A unit leaving me with uneven settings. I'm running a Zephyr DCS 50 system and the decoders are MRC in the locos. Just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the volume ont he B changing when you cnage the CV, just not the same as the A, or is it ignoring the CV setting altogether? If the latter, are you programming on the program track or using Ops Mode? If you are using the program track, try Ops Mode. Put the B unit ont he track alone, select its address, and then hit the program key until the display says Po. The hit CV, key in whatever the volume CV is, and press CV again. The key in the value you want, and hit CV WR. Hit Exit and then try it out.

IIRC,  they also have a volume "knob" (screw) on top of the board.

When in doubt, rule #1 applies Central Missouri Railroad Association cmrraclub.com

I was originally programing with a program track away from the main line. I then used OPS on the main and am still experiencing the same issues. Its rather strange. Thanks for the tips though.

The problem could be the MRC decoder, because they are notorious for sometimes being difficult or even impossible to program.
