BLI doesn't say how because NCE and Digitrax controllers are different and have different ways of implementing the quillable whistle.  I use the NCE ProCab Radio throttles and they support it if you go through a series of programming steps of the controllers themselves.

For an MRC controller, you'll have to dig into the documentation that came with it or send an e-mail query to MRC.

I'm kind of afraid the MRC systems aren't able to use this function, but I wanted to check on here and see if anyone knew otherwise.

NYC,

I understand.  It's always worth asking.

The other thing that I've noticed about the quillable feature mentioned in the BLI manuals is that it isn't very specific - i.e. BLI doesn't really say exactly how to go about using it.  It just states that "some DCC controllers...have the ability to “quill” the whistle."  That's it.

As far as I know, the Digitrax DT400 and NCE ProCab (perhaps the Power Cab, also) are the only DCC controllers that can take advantage of the quillable feature offered by BLI.  You could always e-mail or call MRC to find out for sure.

BLI Quillable Whistle Function - DCC Systems
Posted by NYCentral1 on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 3:00 PM

I know that BLI implemented the quillable whistle in their Paragon2 locomotives, but I've found information that suggests that newer runs of Blueline engines also have this feature.  But, NCE and Digitrax are the only systems I've seen mentioned as being compatible.  Does anyone know if MRC Prodigy Systems are able to use this feature?  My Prodigy Express has a wheel, but I'm not sure what function to be looking for to see if it is capable.
