I have an older Rivarossi Heisler I am trying to hardwire a decoder into. I have a digitrax system. Anyone have a diagram I can follow for the wiring?
THANKS !!!!!!!!
Very simple. Make sure the motor is isolated from the frame. Older locos, one motor brush is usually tied to the frame. Make a motor current reading at 12 volts DC. Choose appropriate decoder to handle motor current. Wire decoder according to NMRA standards. Search Google for nmra dcc wiring.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!!
I have done this conversion. I went on ebay and bought a new can motor specifically for the riv heisler. Will cost you 25 dollars I think. Get the new gear as well. Follow his provided directions to replace the motor in the current motor case. Then wire your decoder( I used a digitrax n scale decoder)as you would any other decoder. It is really pretty easy once you get into it. The only issue I had is because the shell fits so tight over the weight I could not run the wires for front lights. Not saying it could not be done but I did not have the thin wire I needed.
Hope this helps.
