wiring a yard ladder?
Posted by T-Sax on Monday, December 7, 2009 5:36 AM

Hi guys, I'm looking for some advice on wiring a 6 track yard using a 6 position selector switch (double pole I think, but not sure). I have it set up similar to this...

         /-----   1
      /-d------   2
   /-b---------   3
--a----c-------   4
        \-e----   5
           \---   6

I'm looking for a way to control this so that selecting track 1 will move points a, b, & d only,
track 2 moves points a, b, & d only as well but with d flipped the other way, etc...

Any help would be appreciated.

Without knowing the exact nomenclature of the switch you have, it's impossible to offer advice.  What might be a better choice in your case is a diode matrix circuit.

Perform a couple of Google searches for a diode matrix and you can come up with examples, such as:

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using tortise motors to switch the points.....
