The MRC reverser has no adjustment so it can be very tricky to make work reliably. The Digitrax AR-1 is an inexpensive simple to connect device (2 wires in, 2 wires out) and has a single adjustment fo rthe trip current so you can tune it to work on your layout. Yes it's still a relay but in the places I've seen them installed they work very well.

scookamAnd by the way, does anyone know if the MRC reversing loop module works as easy as it sounds?

Does MRC make more than one reversing module? The only one I know of uses a mechanical relay and is not electronic.
I don't own any of them, but helped another modeler install and try to adjust them on his home HO scale layout. They proved to be extremely erratic, unreliable, and difficult to adjust.
On my own and the club's HO scale layouts, we use electronic modules from Tony's Train Exchange (PSRev). Worked right the first time and every time with no adjustments required..
scookamWas wondering though if the wired handheld can still be used in the other ports, you know, for my kids? Can the two work at the same time?
Howdy.
Just hooked up my new MRC Prodigy Advance to my latest layout and I can see that going DCC was a very wise choice. So much more control. I've used it one night and want to upgrade to a wireless conversion now. Was wondering though if the wired handheld can still be used in the other ports, you know, for my kids? Can the two work at the same time? And by the way, does anyone know if the MRC reversing loop module works as easy as it sounds? Thank you Rail Folks. Love this Forum.
