NCE Switch 8 + 2 Tortoises together
Posted by bsteel4065 on Monday, October 19, 2009 9:45 AM

Hi

In the NCE Switch 8 instructions it says that they have successfully run 2 tortoise motors off one switch. I'm taking it that this means that if you have 2 switches powered by Tortoises that need to be always switched at the same time (as in a right and left hand connected together) then one switch can be wired to and operate both. (Using NCE handset, one allocated accessory selected will switch both at the same time.)

Am I right? Anyone done this with a Switch 8? Any problems?

Thanks in advance guys.

thats what they mean, usually on two points that make a crossover as there is no purpose in switching just one of them., or possibly on storage loops to change both ends at the same time.

Hi Locoworks

Yes as I thought. I am about to lay two switches back to back in just that manner so thought I would make sure. Have you done it? Any problems?

I have a switch 8 that's running 3 cross overs. 2 torti's on each point. Runs great.

not using the NCE switch, but i do have the storage loops on my dads layout wired in pairs using plain old DC. i suppose it depends on what current each output can sustain, and what load the tortoises put on it?   you may be able to run 4 off one output to work a scissors arrangement.

That is proof enough! Thank you, I only need two!

Cheers
