It's the Bachmann!  Any ideas please?

Look carefully at the bottom of the tender for a Phillips head screw. You may have to lift out a wheel set from a tender truck. Carefully pry the truck side at one end of a wheel set. The plastic will bend some. I have had to do that with a couple Spectrum steamers. The screw can be well hidden.

Sorry!  U R correct!  I'll go for the screw under the fron truck.  What about the two tiny screws underneath the back cap?

Spectrum doesn't make a 4-6-6-4 but does make a 2-6-6-2. There is a screw under the tender that you have to remove, you may need to remove the front truck or at least one wheelset to get at it. I think you may then have to remove the screw holding the coupler in place, but I'm not sure if that's necessary.

Replace a Spectrum HO 4-6-6-4 Decoder

I have a spectrum 4-6-6-4 UP steamer with a blown decoder.  How the heck do I get into the tender without distroying it to replace the decoder?
