Yes, I am happy with Dennis' suggestions but the problem still remains how to reset the time out function?
The fun part of doing what Dennis suggested is that you can do both; i.e., set the sound so that it comes on with the headlight being turned on AND retain F8 as the mute function. That way you can kill the sound be either waiting for it to time out, or hitting F8 whilst retaining headlight operation.
Thanks for the suggestion; unfortunately it did not work.Dennis at PCM came up with an alternate fix :
Turn CV 130 and 133 from 4 to 0, CV190 and 193 from 64 to 4. This converts F8 to on/off.
He also suggested transferring the on/off function from F8 to F0 so that the sound came on or off in line with the lights (CV 142 and CV145 from 0 to 4, will accomplish this switch). Looked interesting but I liked the flexibility of independent sound/lights using F8 fpr sound control better.
Trait CV 11: If it´s in 0, turn to 1, or viceversa.
I have (for about 3 years) a Precision Craft ON30 Goose which comes with a Loksound 3.5 sound decoder installed. I had cause with do a factory default reset by writing 8 to CV 8. Everything worked as it should, except that the decoder no longer goes into it's quiet mode - and I can not find any CV listed to restore this feature. Anyone else encountered this problem? Found a solution?
Edit : I should have noted that the quiet period was an automatic function which started if no further commands were issued after about 45 seconds - rather than turning off the sound using F8.
