programing mrc with e-z command
Posted by old 58 on Sunday, October 4, 2009 5:42 PM
I have an MRC sound module model 0001008 and I would like to in stall it in a Bachmann 4-8-4 Train using an E-Z Command. But i'm not shure how to program the MRC using the E-Z Command. If anyone could point me I the right direction or let know that it can't be done I would appreciate.

Unfortunately, it can't be done. The E-Z can only program the address of the decoder, not various CVs to configure the sounds or running characteristics. If you can live with the default settings in the decoder it will work, you cna program an address and operate F0-F10.

Randy is correct.  If you want to change the CVs of your MRC decoder, you'll need to find someone with a more sophisticated DCC system than your E-Z Command.  You can give your locomotive an address of 1 thru 9 though.  That info and how to do that will be in your E-Z Command manual and the accompanying DVD.

Yeah you can't do that with the EZ command system the system is good for a person just starting out but if you want to change cv's and that sort of thing you have to get a better DCC system I know it sucks because I have the ez-command system myself and I'm going to get rid of it soon and go to NCE.

Old 58 and Trainfan504, if you are happy with the E-Z other than the fact you cannot change CV's you might look at this.

It is the hardware and the Decoder Pro soft ware is a free down load. I got my PR 3 with the PS 14 power supply for around $65.00. I was happy with my E-Z for sometime. I finally went with a Digitrax SEB because I want a walk around system. I never used the Digitrax system to write CV's, Decoder Pro will do it better than any high dollar DCC system out there!

I still use the E-Z on the work bench.
