I'll second all electronics, and they have ready made 6 pin modular data cables in 7, 15, and 25 ft. lengths dirt cheap.
and the $7 flat shipping rate is hard to beat.

Lowes, Home Depot, Radio Shack, etc. They have the cable and the jacks, and the crimper.
Most of the loconet devices like UP-5s don't care whether the connectors are wire 1 to wire 1 or wire 1 to wire 6, but a couple of them do, so as long as you are making your own cables anyway do it like this:

Back again... Does anyone know where and how I can get bulk(?) lengths of the six-wire/conductors flat cable, i.e., like "phone cable"? I will need this type of cable in order to connect a series of the (Digitrax) UP5 panels around the fascia/perimeter of my layout. Is there an on-line source? Or will the people at HomeDepot/Loews know what I am talking about? Supposedly, attaching the connectors to the six-wire flat cable with the crimping tool is a no-brainer; I certainly hope so. Any tips you guys might have will be used and appreciated. Thanks,
