thanks guys ,yea I had a feeling I needed the better controler when Dave mentioned speed step one Im guessing with the zephers rotary handle.....now do people try to speed match ALL there equip.in there stable or just certain types of equipment ?  also david mentions ops mode does the zepher have that option, Iv herd the term but dont recall seeing it but then again Im total green an fooling with the programing is a bit intimmidateing for me ,so I use the program track &page mode so I can only screw up one at a time ..... but every time I mess with it ,it becomes a little easyer to understand ....THanks  J.W.

Which will be MUCH easier once your PR3 arrives and you hook it up, as unless you have a DT-series throttle to use with your Zephyr you cannot know exactly which speed step you are at.

hey there all got some of my FIRST dcc projects going number 1. is trying to match an older p2k e-7 that I put a dh163 p into to a new p2k w/ dcc/snd . note im using a zepher  to program and have only fooled with the older unit w/dh163 slowing it down useing cv 2 cv6 &cv5 ,,I got em pretty close but not exact .....I think one problem is the newer one uses differant gears .... Im watching the couplers in differant speeds there close but it seams that one is reacting to speed changes faster than the other but then catch up, if that makes sence  ....any how anyone else try this & HOW CLOSE is is close enough......but hey im learning ,got to tell ya a bit nervous about hit those program buttons...... oh got a pr3 & a decoderpro jmri somthing  on its way (like the big boys doit)    thanks J.W.
