gbcutter Does anyone use computer control on a DC layout? Since I am not into operation, I am planning to run an out-and-back layout automatically with a reversing loop at each end using relay logic. If I decide to add stops, delays, and maybe clockwise/counter-clockwise reverses, it could be easy to change the program with an old PC. Would it be easier/cheaper to just go with a dedicated Programmable Logic interface?

You need to talk to Chuck Davis at Oak Tree Systems. www.oaktreesystems.com He has software, interfaces and hardware for that kind of thing. He has done the controls on several well known display layouts including one the B&O transportation Museum in Baltimore.
