Athearn diesel Tsunami differences
Posted by richg1998 on Monday, August 10, 2009 12:36 PM

Someone asked in a previous thread if the new Athearn diesels would have the same Tsunami sound features as a Tsunami you buy and install yourself. I just saw this in a different forum. I do not use diesels so I cannot comment.

Quote:

I just checked my new Athearn SF F7 Warbonnet horns (CV115) - it only has 3
horns not 16. For CV115 values set to 3 and above it appears to fault to a
Wabco sound which is CV115 value=0. Also I can't seem to activate the "Quiet
Mode" CV113. It would be nice if Athearn would identify specific differences,

End of Quote.

I know the Bachmann Tsunami steam have the same issue.

Really not a big issue as the Tsunami is still a good decoder. The real problem is modelers assuming both have the same features. I would have thought the same at one time.

All the PDF's are on the 'Net and you can see the difference but it takes some reading to see this difference.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

Well hopefully the three they give you match the horns they actually put on the models. Of course that may be incorrect for a particular model at a particular time, but then you'd also need a different horn casting, not just the sound.
