Has MRC fixed or developed new sound decoders since the MRC/Athearn problems?
It has been quite a while since the problems with Athearn and MRC DCC happened, hopefully those problems have been either fixed or new sound decoders developed by MRC since.

Not that I am aware of. Athearn recently dropped the MRC decoders. I purchased a Genesis sound unit in June, that was a new delivery, and it still had the MRC decoders with the same limited functionality. I took it back. I suspect you'll get similar responses from others.

davidmbedard They are still plagued with issues. Athearn will be more popular now with the introduction of the Tsunami. Dont be fooled by the cheap prices of the MRC sound decoders. David B

Agreed. Athearn had to feel the pinch of low sales with their Genesis sound equipped units. For example, I don't own a single Athearn factory installed sound locomotive but I own over 20 Atlas Gold and BLI Paragon/Blueline units. I am lining up my future Athearn Genesis sound unit purchases.
When the Tsunami equipped models hit the store shelves, Athearn should see a noticeable increase in sales. In our HO scale club, no one will touch an MRC equipped locomotive or use MRC decoders we have had so much trouble with them.
