the only that are not compatible are...all locomotives from MTHThumbs Down

Michael,

Actually, the E-Z Command will run an MTH locomotive just fine.  However, there are certain sounds that will not be accessible except via an MTH DCS controller.  And this would be true of any DCC system.

Eagle,

With the E-Z Command you'll be able to enjoy function sounds F1-F8.  IMO, that's about all the worthwhile functions there are.  The rest are more "gimicky".  You can even run one (1) DC locomotive.

Also, although not necessity, F9 is convenient with QSI decoders as it allows you to put them in "hibernation mode" - i.e. put them to sleep so that they don't draw power when their not in use.  You bring them out of hibernation by double-pressing F6 quickly.

 Sign - Welcome

I had great luck with my E-Z. I ran QSI Sound Decoders, Loksound Sound Decoders and Digitrax Decoders with no problem. In other words you can just about run anything you can buy.

I have had great luck with Proto 1000 and 2000 engines, more than what a Bachmann will cost, but worth every penny.

Welcome to the Dark side Big Smile You can use all locomotives that are equipped with a DCC-decoder, the NMRA DCC standard is the biggest in the world, the only that are not compatible are some European systems (Märklin, Selectrix and Conrad digital) and all locomotives from MTHThumbs Down. If you buy locomotives without decoder, make sure they are DCC-ready. If they are, you can install a (contact equipped) decoder yourself. Just plug it into the socket inside the model. Good luck!

Bachmann DCC EZ Command
Posted by Eagle71 on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 2:32 AM

Hi all I have recently purchased  the DCC EZ Command system as a start out in the DCC World. Whilst reading the instructions it make mention that the "EZ Command will operate DCC euipped locomotives from many manufacturers and offers many features previously found only on more expensive digital systems." Whilst I am starting out I have found that there are other manufacturers locos that I am intersted in. Any anybody assist in what manufacturers locos are compatible with the Bachmann EZ Command.
