Internet dealer goes way above and beyond, Ulrich Models

As some of you know, C&O (Terry) gave me his old Loksound Decoder from his H-8 for my Big Boy. I sent the decoder to Ulrich Model's to have Big Boy sound files uploaded to the decoder.

When I got it installed into the PCM Big Boy I was over joyed with the sound! But, there was one small problem. I could not turn the lights on? Downloaded the Loksound book and thanks to T-Stage I understand CV's better yet. Changed 141 to 1 and CV 144 to 2 and gave it a try, F-0 make steam sound. I have set CV 8 = 8 and only thing that changes is the address.Decoder will not take changes in OP mode.

Called Steve at Ulrich Models with the Big Boy sitting in front of me. Played the steam sound that F 0 makes and changed CV 8 = 8 so he could here the decoder.

Steve said he would send me a replacement Wednesday and send the old one back after I get it?  Now I am a honest man so I said " Steve that would be great, but I did not buy it from you. All you did was up load new sound files". He paused for a second and said " I programed it, and they all look the same anyway, I will send a new one out". Bow

I would have been happy just to have him program it again!

Ulrich Models is one of the really great on-line dealers, from whom I purchase nearly all of my DCC decoders.

They have been around for years because I have some really old Ulrich Models rolling stock made from wooden kits.

   Hi

As I have mentioned before on the forum, I'm working on a learning project, building a GP 9 out of parts.
I've got everything up and running but I have not been able to get the lights to work. Decoder is a locksound DSDLL110 LC. My lights are good and wiring is correct. Maybe mine is a programing error also?
Any thoughts?

I do want to get over to K10 sometime when they are having run session.
It's just a long trip for me.

Smile

I have found Steve to bend over backward to help if you have a problem. For now on I am going to use him for all my DCC needs.

Lee, here is a link for Loksound Decoders.

More than likely it is a decoder CV problem, I know mine is. I had lights before I installed the Loksound decoder. I will try one last time using Direct Mode.

As far as making it to K-10 Model Trains, where do you live? I am guessing you are a pilot, you and Ken (owner of K-10) would have a lot to talk about. Ken is a retired Navy Pilot. Ken all so does a lot with R/C planes. That sure is something I need to stay away from.

C&O Fan, yes this time with the gift you gave me and Ulrich Models I am doing pretty darn good. I all so have to thank you for getting me off my butt. I am now taking more interest in CV's and I got the Y6-b up and running.

I would like to go slightly off topic and say that ATLAS is another company that besides a long history, has ALWAYS jumped thru hoops to take care of me as a customer. Its hard to find and very cool that they care as much about my hobby (their job) as I do my job.
