Digitrax Hook-up a SUCCESS !!!! - But, I do have a Question............
Posted by mobilman44 on Saturday, June 20, 2009 6:23 PM

Hi,

Well, even though the layout (under construction) is not yet ready for the DCC system hook-up, I took some time to wire the Super Chief to a test track - my FIRST DCC attempt.

I won't lie to you, my initial hook-up would not get any juice to the locos.  I knew it was my fault, and swallowed my pride and read the fine print - realizing that I had not turned the track power on.  Well, that did the trick, and the room soon filled with BLI loco sounds from several engines.

It really made my day, for now I know enough to do DCC track testing on the layout itself, and have to say that "you CAN teach an old dog new tricks"!

Oh, one question............  On the DCS100, the green config light is sometimes on solid and sometimes blinking.  What does that mean?   I am sure this info is in the manual, but I am also sure that you guys will tell me in plain English.

ENJOY!!!

5.13 CONFIG Indicator

The green CONFIG Indicator shows the primary operating mode of the DCS100. This indicator should be steady green blinking off briefly once every 4 seconds. This indicates that the setting for DCS100 Option Switch 05 is set up correctly. If you see 8 blinks every 4 seconds then we recommend that you change the DCS100 Option Switch 05 to “closed.” The DCS100 will operate correctly in either case.

The CONFIG Indicator will be mainly off when DCS100 option switch 01 is incorrectly set to “closed.” In this case you must change option switch 01 to “thrown” for correct operation. See Section 28.0.

I hope this helps.
