If Wolfgang can get sound in a GE 25 tonner, sound in a HH660 should be simple by comparison. Not saying it will be an easy job, but definitely within the realm of possibility. Now, gettign the correct prime mover sound....

Hi 007;
I actually installed two sound decoders in the hh660, one was Loksound and the other was a QSI revelution A. I like the QSI the best, so I took out the LOK (I plan to try installing it in a P2K S-1), and I put in the QSI with a mini-oval and baffle, it's tight but just makes it, the capacitor had to go in the cab(looks like the engineer's having a keg party). The only real problem is to get the front headlight in a good position. I had originally ordered a revelution U but they were unavailable and ended up with the rev.A. The U is a little smaller, but either would be hard wired you need the room and it's not made with a standard Atlas light board. The front weight had to go (not much difference in pulling). I was toying with idea of two 1/2" speakers back to back under the radiator screen, but didn't try it. The sound is excellent, had to cut the volume down. Runs great. It wasn't simple but it wasn't all that bad either, it was harder putting on those truck chains. I'm sorry but I didn't take any pictures of the work.
Den.
Well, I only see the phrase "QSI sound-equipped version coming soon". No mention of specific road names though.
I did put in my plug at the Atlas booth for a NYC HH600 at the WGH show here back in March. I'll just have to wait and see.

mwalsh,
If sound is "squeezable" in the Atlas HH600/660s, the Loksound "micro" V3.5 might work well for the lack of space. However, be prepared to the possibility of removing part of the chassis to make room anyhow.
Thanks for the heads up on the 2nd run announcement. I'll be sure to check that out.
That one is probably going to be a challenge to put sound in. Even so, I'll be keeping my eye (and ear) on this thread. I'm "hoping" that Atlas will release a 2nd run of these and include a NYC HH600. That would be sweet.
