Terry, when I can convince myself that the DT400 is the one confused (I can do that at will now...Wink), I usually just restore normal operational interface by pressing "Func".  If you were in a partial or full consist mode, you would not get the normal addresses, and that would be your indication that you had another process underway

Anyway, I am happy to hear that your session with the 1:1 fellas went well..

Thanks for all your help, guys! The suggestions got me on the right track, so to say!

I got it fixed this morning.  the steal=y thing helped. When I tried that it prompted me for a "top" or "addy/n". Ahhhh, it started to make sense.Somehow I got into the consisting program(pushed a wrong button yesterday),I'm guessing which is why only the left hand throttle was displayed. Not quite sure how I fixed it or returned to the regular readouts with both left and right throttles, but I did! All is right in northern Wisconsin!!

Randy, I have two DT400's and if I try to load engine A on Throttle A when it had last been managed on Throttle B, Throttle A will just give me a blank blinking SEL.  No amount of verbiage or digital inputs, persuasive or abusive, will induce a cooperative venture with Throttle A.  Been there, done that.  You have to use the Steal=Y process.  I am uncertain about Terry's arrangement with the other throttle, but presumably the DT400's logic is the deciding factor here...?

Blinking SEL means it's waiting to finish the selection process. It could be just as simple as turning or pushing the knob that has the blinking SEL associated with it, and then press enter or loco to complete the selection process, or exit to cancel it.

Try clearing the memory in the DB150 by using option switch #39 for the DB150. This will clear the DB150 of all the loco's in its memory. Any loco's that are MU'ed at the time will no longer be in a consist. This does not effect the decoders.

Thanks, Crandell, I'll give that a try.

On the upside, they all just left, Even with the two working throttles ,all had a great time.I was asked to volounteer at the Spooner Rail Museum.I will be there! For once, everything ran as promised, NO derailments!!! Two busted couplers was about it for whooops.

Here is what you do.  Press "LOCO" key and enter selection mode.

Dial in the address from the list, or input it with the number pad.  Press LOCO key once more.

You should be prompted "Steal?=Y ...if the loco can be stolen.  If...

Press Y+ key.

Can you dispatch the engine from the other throttle?  Is there a LOCO key?  Press, press DISP, or whatever looks to be the same, and/or just EXIT.

Terry, sorry for my tardiness..in the middle of marking essays.  I forget the exact procedure, but the DT400 should prompt you with a steal.  If not, figure out how to release that engine address on the older throttle.  Or, try unplugging the older throttle...maybe the command station will assign that number to the only throttle on line.

Sorry, without going and reading the instructions myself to refresh, I am not able to help.  Meanwhile, I'll go find out and post if you are not already hooped.

Thanks for the ASAP response,Crandell. I only use 2 digit adresses as the Ute throttle, an OLD 2 digit only, won't support any thing but. What do I do? Punch in the last loco# and press Y for steal?

The DT 400 throttle is possessive....vewwwwy, vewwwy possessive.  It likes to hang on to engines that it has been using exclusively.  I tend to use the higher addresses/extended addresses on one throttle and the short addresses on the other (I thave two DT400's).  If I make a mistake and attempt to steal a short address loco on the long throttle, I get the blinking SEL.  You must dispatch or release the engine on the other throttle first.  Or, as the manual coaches you to do, effect a STEAL function on the DT400.

I think, on the evidence in your post, that this is what you are dealing with.

DT400 Glitch, help!
Posted by saronaterry on Thursday, June 11, 2009 3:23 PM

Hi, all.

I've got 4  1:1 retired  CNW Engineers coming over to see the layout in about 2 hours.

HO scale  Digitrax SEB, 40' x32' layout. I went down this am to wipe the cobwebs and dust, fired up the system. NO problems. Everything's working great. Then, evidently, I push a (wrong) button on the DT400 and now have only one pot(throttle) that works!!??!! The utility throttle works great, no issues. The DT400 reads:

52(loco #) fn sel, with the SEL flashing. It works ,I can select an engine and go, but why only the left throttle?

HELP!
