Broadway Limited GE AC6000 lights always on

This Blueline CSX locomotive has an NCE decoder installed and whenever there is power to the rails, the number board lights are on.  I can turn the headlight on/off using F0 and I can turn the ditch lights on/off using F7, but I cannot figure out how to turn off the number board lights.  They are always on even when I am not running the locomotive.  The only time they are off is when I turn off the power to my layout.  Any ideas?  Was the decoder installed incorrectly or wired incorrectly?  Does anyone else have this locomotive or problem?  Thanks.

There is a jumper you should change to allow the motor decoder to run the lights .  You unplug the wire harness from J1 and place it in  J7.  Might help

What does the manual say that came with the loco?  There should absolutely be mention of it.

Nope, there is no mention of it. It mentions the front light, rear light, ditch/mars/L1 lights, and cab lights, but no mention of the number board lights. I wonder if they are wired to pick up power directly from the rails.

 You try changing the jumper on the PC board, but I am 95% sure they will stay on. Both my Blue Line GE AC 6000 are like that. Honestly I like having them on, I know they are working.

 On my BLI F7, function key f11 turns the number boards on and off. Just something to try.

I have read the operator's manual twice and there is no mention of number board lights.  I sent an e-mail to the technical department of Broadway Limited and they replied that they do not know how to turn them off.  They are always on.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I did try F11 and every other function up to F28 and none had any effect.  I am convinced they are supposed to always be on.  I just hope that, being LEDs, they last a very long time so I never have to replace them.  I have found that removing loco shells is not an easy task.  I am not very talented when it comes to technical stuff.  Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions.

Being on all the time is not a problem as long as they don't burn out.  Even LED's don't last forever, do  they?  The hassle of trying to replace them is something I would like to avoid.  I have 7 locomotives and this one Blueline is not always in use so I cannot see why the lights should be on all the time.  I can physically remove it from the track but I was hoping I didn't have to do that.

They'e LED's behind on the BLI's. I wouldn't worry about burning them out. 

They will usually run 5-10 years of continuous use.

i just bought an altas silver series mp15dc that has an nce decoder in it and its' lights are always on no matter what direction it is going.  I can also turn them all off by function f0.  I thought I wanted lights on in the direction the engine was going, but ya know what.  There are times that the light is on and all it shines on is the boxcar in front of it.  So what the hey why not have them both on or both off.  The led is too yellow anyway and will most likely spend most of the time off.
