Looks like I stumbled onto something useful; a previous message here steered me onto a Yahoo group for Digitrax sound. On that group, Fred Miller has just posted the availability of his SPJHelper software which allows detailed construction of an SFX soundfile Project. The approach is different from Loksound's, but the results are functionally the same. I hope to give it a try.

Maybe I just wasted some money. I bought a DH165 series decoder and an SFX004 Soundbug some time back, and a few weeks ago finally ordered the PR3 programmer. No problem installing and using the programmer. Problem: few sound Projects to download, in fact only one steam file on the CD or website. Second problem: no details about building sound Projects such as Loksound provides (they just released an expanded manual in English after much prodding). Digitrax limits info to saying the user can substitute one file for another. Not much room for innovation there!
Digitrax sez that if you register for SoundDepot, you can upload or download user Projects. But this feature of their website is non-functional.
It's not as tho they just brought the SFX series and PR2/3 to market; what gives?
