Two sound decoder locos that have a hard time moving
Posted by aet on Sunday, May 10, 2009 6:31 PM

Hi,

I have a steam engine w/ sound decoder and a diesel w/sound decoder. I recently just ballasted my 1st section of track, cleaned it throughly with a brite boy and rail zip. My other locos with decoders with no sound run fine, but my two sound decoder engines jerk and stop and start.

Any suggestions on correcting this problem wold be great

thanks

Art, is your system DC or DCC? If DC sound engines take more power to get going. But, it really sounds like dirt wheels or dirty track.

Try cleaning the Loco's wheels real good. I would try wiping down the rails with nail polish remover, lacquer thinner or alcohol. Then report back if you still have the problem.

No such thing as to clean of wheels or rail!
