 I have a 4 unit set with sound in all 4 units ...I set the bells in the B units to 0 and left the horns at max. volume since I am using a single chime horn

  In a short reply YES. You can put it in one loco for now and do the other later. You will not be happy with sound out of 1 of 2 locos unning around together.

 Hi everybody,

                         is it   neccesary to fit a sound decoder in both, to get a nice sound effect.HO units.
