Hello All,
I have an HO scale Blueline SD9, which a friend programmed for me on his NCE system at home. It runs well, but I don't think the sound (as is) is all that great. I've heard that this is supposed to be an incredible sound unit, so I'm thinking it's in the adjustment of the sound levels.
We have CVP's Easy DCC tied to a PC with Decoder Pro installed. It works great too. But, the SD9 doesn't show up for Decoder Pro. Does anyone know of any tricks here? Do I need to remove the plug in decoder first? Am I gonna have a hard time because of CVP?
The 567 is my favorite diesel sound. As of right now the Blueline barely passes for it. I thank you for any help you could offer.

Dan, I am 99% sure you will need to remove the motor decoder first. I do when I program my Blue Lines. You all so have to program using Direct Mode page will not work with the Blue Line sound decoder.
What do you not like about the sound?
As far as sounding great, well for a HO train engine my do, I have 2 GE AC 6000's and one SDR-15. Would I like them as my stereo? NO, they have a under laying hissing sound that gets on nevers if I set close by.
I had my 6000's at K-10 Model Trains during ops night. Guy had a pair Kato 6000 with sound there as well. My BL 6000 sounded ever bite as good as his.

Ken,
Thanks for the reply. I will try the suggestion. I agree with you, the AC 6000 is one of the best sounding GE decoders I've ever heard, without any adjustment. (4 of em at our club) But, this isn't the case with the SD9. There is no real windup sound of the motor when you increase speed. The motor just is all of a sudden at a higher RPM. The typical whine that a 567 makes isn't there, there's no turbo-charger sound. And then when you let off the throttle. You guys know the sound I mean. That isn't there either. I actually went on Youtube.com and listened to an SD9 video to make sure I wasn't wrong.
David,
As per David's comment, I agree again. I am going to put one of the new Tsunamis in one of the GP7s I just finished. I was actually suprised at how authentic it sounds. These new line of Tsunamis will be my decoder of choice.
Look at the speakers for damage or a wiring problem first. If you find nothing wrong then do a hard reset of the Blueline decoder. Main line reset is CV8=8 for the Blueline decoder. Then a cycle of the power will reset to factory settings.

I pray every day I break even, Cause I can really use the money!
I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

EMD SD9's do NOT have turbochargers - they use Roots blowers(supercharged). What you should hear is that typical EMD '576 Chant'.....
