Anyone have the athern sw-7 and have put a decoder in it. What did you use and where in the world did you put it? I have an n scale digitrax and had it in the cab roof but all the wires are clearly seen in one window and I am worried that all those wires will keep the shell from going on fully. Any suggestions?

alco's forever!!!!! Majoring in HO scale Minorig in O scale:)
As a matter of fact, I do have one but someone else did the work for me a number of years ago. It is motion only but does have CV readback because less than an hour ago, it became the first unit that I programed the long address (road number) on my new system. I went through and read some of the CVs but didn't mess with any of them.
If someone will remind me how to call up a manufacturer I.D. I'll see what I can find. As to pulling the body off to see how it's mounted, I'll have to ponder that.
Thanks but I do not want you to open it up and risk not getting it back together properly. Thank you though.
I put a decoder in one for a friend. It is a real tight fit. I used a Digitrax DH163 decoder, hard wired. The decoder sits on what is left of the front truck electrical pickup. It is a very tight fit and I had to do some 'forming' of that metal bar to get everything to fit.
