Circuit breakers what would you recommend
Posted by jalajoie on Thursday, April 2, 2009 9:39 AM

My club wants to replace its 10 years old circuit breakers with new more up to date products.

The club is HO powered with a 10a Super Chief, one Booster and 4 districts. What is recommended between the PSX from Tony, EB1 from NCE and PM42 from Digitrax?

Thanks in advance.

Jack,

I used the PSX breakers from Tony's Train Exchange. I really like the adjustable trip settings on them.

100% agree.  I have 10 of them with a SuperChief system and 3 boosters and would not look at anything else.

I had four DCC Specialties PSX Circuit Breakers on my last Layout.  They worked flawlessly.  Tony's Train Exchange sells them and they use to be under Tony's speciality products.

You don't see any arching or any delays at all.  They would be my only choice.

Hi!

I'm new to DCC but did a lot of investigating three months ago to determine the best (for me) system & equipment.  I ended up with a Super Chief w/2 boosters and 2 DT400 controllers - AND - two PSX 4 circuit breakers.  When I asked for opinions and advice, there was a lot of differences regarding the DCC sytem per se, but pretty much all agreed the DCC Specialties PSX4s were the way to go.

ENJOY,

Since no one else asked, what's the matter with the ones you have?  The fact that they are 10 years old doesn't sound like a problem to me, unless there is a failure issue.

Two of them failed, they don't trip fast enough, when a short occur in their respective districts the whole layout shut down. May as well replace all of them with newer technology.
