The AC6000 Paragon 2 has an undesiderable sound when reach 40/50 mph...what is this, and how to eliminate it? Thanks.
I believe it's the turbo and from what I've read it's closer to prototypical. It also gives me a headache when turned up You can play with the individual sound settings or even change the speed that the RPM increases for each of 7 speed steps.
Springfield PA
I have two BLI AC6000 that do the same thing. I sent an E-mail to BLI telling them that may be prototypical, but nobody wants to here that high pitch turbo whine on a HO layout. They said nobody else complained. I thought is was just my hearing.
I ask for a CV fix their answer was to press F6 twice to kill the rpm and it works, but also kills most of the ramp-up.
I turned down the Diesel sound to 80 on CV137. You can also increase the rev-levels on CV 193 thru 199. I increased each of those CV's by 20 except the last one. I also increased V-mid voltage ( CV 6 ) from 50 to 80 to make them match my other engines speed.
This helped a lot I just which they would have gave you a CV sound setting for the Turbo whine and forgot the animal sounds. Other than that they have been really nice engines the EMF is very good.
I also have two of the AC 6000 units and have not noticed that sound you are describing. How fast are you runing the engine to get that annoying sound? I rarely run mine over 35-38 on the DT400 throttle. This is a very realistic speed for me and have not heard that anoying sound.
The Turbo whine is only on the newest AC6000 with Paragon 2 sound. By half throttle ( notch 4 ) you will hear for sure. Under load and grades the back EMF will crank it in at lower speeds.
