I just got one, it is a top notch loco. The drive is great and the sounds are very good. It doesn't seem to have as much bass as a comparable tsunami, but is very good. It has one speaker about an inch round. Programming is fairly complex if you are not using Decoder Pro.

I have no complaints.

yea; Ive been looking at them for awhile but have not pulled the string yet, but I have read a bit about them and the only neg ive found was on tonys train ex. somthing about the speaker is not fully sealed to Qsi specs but a little stiky putty in a notch @ speaker will improve sound same as bli loccos acording to tonys site . Ill will geta set AB soon but ready yet...oh its hard to get info on them such as do they have two speakers or one per unit , one  could email intermoutain for info but not much written on them ...proto s have two per unit per qsi specs ......but not in my road so intermoutain is it for me .....Jerry

Well,

I can't help with the DCC/sound part since I don't use either, but I have several sets of Intermountain F units and they run just as well as my Genesis or Proto2000 locos.

If it runs good on DC it will run good on DCC, so they say.

I am looking for any input regarding the performance of Intermountain F7s, specifically DCC with sound.  I have lots of their rolling stock and like the quallity, so I thought I would try a loco.  I searched the forum for information, but nothing recent comes up.  I have several other locos form various manufacturers and I beleive they each have good qualities, i.e. BLI, Proto 2000, Atlas and Athearn.

 Any opinions are welcome.

 Thanks!
