Each sound volume is adjustable along with master volume. If you don't like engine sounds you can turn them way down of off, or if you like them you can turn them up. The horn is nice and powerful and the bell sound is crisp. You can also adjust the speed step that each engine rpm boost increases. The whine can be annoying if you run high speed for long periods.

I have 2 of the AC6000 Paragon 2 they program and run real nice. My only complaint is the high turbine whine passed half throttle.  This is prototypical, but ruff on the ears on a HO layout. You have to turn the engine CV volume down. I do not have much use for the extra animal, city sounds etc. I wish they would have gave you more engine sound changes than the animal sound.  Except for the high turbine whine it is their best engine to date.

I have one. It's identical to the Blueline (Which I also have) except for the decoder. The sounds are totally revamped and it also has backemf. One nice feature is if you're pulling a train and hit an incline the engine revs higher. There are 7 levels of engine rpm instead of 3-4 before. You also get auxiliary sounds like farm animals, etc. (which I have no use for). I posted about it in more detail a while back
