I just purchased a pair of Digitrax N-scale decoders: one for an Atlas Dash 8-40C (DN163A0) and one for an Atlas GP15-1 (DN163A2). Installed both decoders and everything works fine except for the fact that the headlights (both front and rear) on the GP15-1 are VERY yellow. The Dash 8 is a nice bright white just like the other dozen or so Digitrax decoders I have installed over the last few years. Both packages have "golden white LED" printed on the cover page of the instructions, but the GP15-1 is obviously quite different from all of my other locos. I have a few Atlas locos with factory Lenz decoders that are a tiny bit yellowish, but the one I installed yesterday looks like the yellow bug lights you see on a front porch. It is very, VERY yellow. Did I get a bum decoder or is something else happening that I am just missing?

It does sound like yellow LEDs were mounted rather than the advertised golden white LEDs. You should call up Digitrax.

I remember when Digitrax asked at one if the NMRA National shows if modelers wre willing to pay a little more for the golden white LED's. I suspect you may have gotten some 'old stock' from your LHS/vendor.

Jim, You have hit the nail right on the head. This is what happened and I have sent the decoder to Digitrax for replacement. Jamie
