There's also the Quantum Engineer for QSI decoders (regardless of who makes the loco, if it has a QSI decoder you can control it with the Quantum Engineer). The QE has lots of buttons for configuring and operating the sounds on QSI decoders - about as complete as it is possible to get without going to DCC. However, it will not work with Blueline or Loksound decoders (used in PCM models).

I have no experience with it, but just as a wild guess I would say that the Sidekick would work with the P2K units because both they and the BLI Paragon Series use the QSI sound system.

Sound Controller Compatibility
Posted by illcent on Monday, March 9, 2009 2:15 PM

I currently have a Sidekick unit (for use with the older Broadway Ltd. Paragon Series) and the DC Master Analog unit (for use with the Broadway Ltd. Blue Line Series).

I am planning on purchasing the forthcoming Proto 2000 E7 A&B units.  I understand their sound units use the QSI system.

Will either of my present sound controllers work with the  Proto 2000 units?  I understand that I could purchase another controller for the QSI system but that would mean 3 separate controllers for the passenger train loop on my layout.

I would appreciate any assistance with the compatibility question.

 Thank you.
