Discount power packs
Posted by BerkshireSteam on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 10:45 AM

The LHS has a pair of older Tech II DC power packs, one's normal the other is 5 bucks more but has momentum and brake control. If I find out these work (they where in what appeared to be the clearance isle) are they worth getting? Doing a small computer desk layout, DCC is too much, trying to do it on the cheap and it's either get one of these now, as in today, or wait a few months when I can spend 50 bucks on a new Tech IV or RailPower 1300.

The Tech II power packs you asked about are the exact power packs currently in use on my under-construction layout.  I have been very happy with their performance - they even handle catenary motors powered by two 60s-era open-frames without a hiccup.

If they are, in fact, on clearance, grab them quick, before they get away!

I only got enough cash on me for one. And that's the one with out momentum and braking. And I hafta hide if it from the 'wife'. Or she'll kill me. But only after she threw out the Tech II.
