I too have 'squirreled' away signaling articles from back to the early 80's. When I was ready to install a good working ABS signal system on my DCC layout, I found I could buy 'off the shelf' signal detection/logic far cheaper than what I could build it for! And many times the components specified are no longer available. Digitrax/Logic Rail/South Bend Signal have systems that basically 'plug in' and you are good to go. And logic provided by JMRI Panel Pro is FREE. As a dedicated 'I can build it' type of guy, this took some soul searching - until I realized I wanted to watch the signals work more than building the hardware!
