QSI Revolution A sound files
Posted by fisker76 on Sunday, February 15, 2009 9:29 AM

Group,

I just finished the installation of Revolution A into a P2K Berk.  I went to the QSI site to download new sound files for 'HO steam' and it doesn't appear any files are available  http://www.qsisolutions.com/products/techinfo/revolution/q-revo_codes_steam.html.  what is going on here????  plenty of diesel no steam????  what am I missing hereConfused

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am on the margins of decoder installations, so go easy on me.

I had understood, perhaps mistakenly, that the QSI Revolutions were supposed to be pre-programmed by the seller who would ask the buyer what engine was involved.  Once the receiving engine was known, the seller would programme the decoder and mail it to the buyer.  Later, if something changed or was updatable, the idea was that the buyer could eventually download files from the manufacturer's site.

Was the seller supposed to determine which engine the buyer had before mailing the decoder to him?

Thanks, David.

Another question:  suppose I am the proud owner of a good, newer, sound decoder that can have new sound files loaded onto it.  I hate the sound file for the horn that the manufacturer has for the engine involved, and it doesn't look good for an improved version any time soon.  I really like the hooter sound available in a file downloadable on another brand of decoder.  Am I hooped?  Are the various sound files coded in a way that make them useless for my decoder, or is the software/firmware on my decoder going to prevent the incorporation of the other manufacturer's sound file?

Can you think of a way around the problem if it turns out that they are indeed incompatible?

The Rev steam sound files should be out about the same time as the new version decoders.
