Equipment: NCE Power Cab, Bachman Spectrum 2-10-2 w/snd, Proto 2000 2-10-2 w/snd, and Decoder Pro.
Goal: Speed match a consist with the Santa Fe's
I've sucessfully used Decoder Pro with both these locos individually to adjust sound.
I set up a consist with the NCE cab with the Bachman in the lead; it's the slower of the two. I started up Decoder Pro and loaded the P2K for programming on the main. I set the speed step to 28 to match the speed steps in Decoder Pro. I clicked on Speed Table and enabled the speed table (turning off basic motor control). So, I naively thought that the sliders related directly to a speed step. I set the throttle to 4 and noticed that the P2K gained on the Bachman. I moved the slider down and wrote the changes, The P2K acknowledged. Nothing happened. I eventually slid all of the sliders down 0 and wrote the changes. Nothing. The P2K responded as though I hadn't changed a thing.
So, how is this speed table supposed to work? Am I not enabling it correctly?
The CV's on the Speed Table page are numbered 67 - 94. "Use QSI or User table in CVs 67 through 94" is checked."Quantum Speed Table" is set to "Linear Curve". Out of curiosity, I dragged the slider for CV94 to 0 which also moved all other sliders to 0. I wrote the full sheet to the loco. Nothing changed. I moved the loco to the programming track and read back the CVs. Only CV 88 was 0. Apparantly it's not writing everything. I'll need to figure out a way to get it to accept all of the changes. This will be a little more tedious than I was hoping.
I'm using user defined and typing the CV values in the text box one at a time rather than using the sliders. I'm up to speed step 12. It takes a while, but it's working. I've noticed that the perfect speed step for forward is not always optimal for reverse.
