I fully agree:  Go for the refund, asap.

Over the past several years a number of us here on the forum (myself included) have posted information about inaccurate information on model railroad items up for bids on ebay.  Some sellers seemed to be dishonest, while others were ignorant or had a vague idea about what they were selling.  That is one of the major downsides to the world's biggest flea market.

Take the refund and move on.

I agree.  The guy offered a refund, promptly and without much of a fight.  That's a lot better than most unhappy buyers get on eBay.  He may not know what he's talking about, and he may not check his facts before making claims, but it doesn't appear that he's dishonest.

Randy, you´re very close...but: the seller has several types of MEHANO Blue Tiger, the first model (I´ve purchased), today $ 277.-, and newer models (as per the new prototypes), around 355.- In the first mail I´ve askwed the seller why the money difference between models, specially if the first model has a cheaper decoder, and he answered me:"No, sir, all Blue Tiger are Prestige line, and has the Loksound 3 decoder, the price difference is because the ratio dollar/euro at the time of (his) purchase". So, I ordered the engine. When it came here, I see that the model is not "Prestige" line, it is "Hobby Line", an step down, and the booklet enclosed is for the Loksound. 1.0. So I emailed him about this, and he answered that the booklet is wrong, and repeated that all Blue Tiger has the Loksound. 3.0. So I sent an email to ESU, who confirmed that the booklet is right, and the loco has the Loksound "classic" version, it is, very old, so I may change it for the modern 3.5 version, with more sounds. I resent this mail to the seller, requesting he send me the new decoder, free, but up today he insist that the loco has the new version, and that I must send the loco to him for verify it, and if the deco is old, he will sell the loco to Europe !!!!! Really, a crazyness. I admit that the seller offered me a full refund, but that is no the point: the point is that he lied about the loco features, inacceptable because he sells the loco since the beguining. ESU sells the 3.5 decoder with more sounds, but the seller said he will not send to me. Bye

I think this is about his loco that the seller said had a Loksound 3.5 decoder but it really only has a Loksound 1.0. Big difference in features.

I just wonder what he paid relative to the original list price of the loco, and the new release of it which DOES have the 3.5 version decoder. I mean, if the original price of the 1.0 model was $200, and the price of the new 3.5 model is $300, and he paid $50 for it, there's some room to complain but not that much. But if he paid the new version price for the old version, based on the seller saying it WAS the newer version, then I'd be pretty upset as well.

Only if the OP's complaint is about electrical, electronic or DCC products.

So, What's up, Doc?

Maybe the seller wasn't lying? Could be he couldn't figure out what you were asking. Doesn't seem like any one here can either.

Does this have anything to do with electronics and DCC?
