Looks like playing around with F5 and F6 seemed to do it. Thanks again.  I will post pics in a bit regarding install in the hopes that this thread and my experiences will help others.

Thanks again,

No joy - F5 or F6 seemed to do nothing?  I do have decoderpro.  I reset the decoder and changed the CVs that you recommended along with other variables.  I'll play around with decoderpro a bit more...

Thanks,

David-  Thanks.  I've made some of your CV changes and all is working out.  The only headache that I'm having is trying to iluminate the gyra light and main headlight.  When I plugged the tsunami in, F0 controls the lightboard only.  I;m assuming I have to do some type of remapping of CVs?  Any further insight?  I also noticed that when I enable the lights, there is a slight buzz that's generated from the speaker.  I have the tender off so there are no grounding issues....Thanks in advance.

Will do, thanks.  Tony's trains advised me to use a 1.1" speaker and appropriate enclosure.  It looks like there's enough room for 2 speakers (the sound version contains 2 speakers) but I don't know enough about wiring 2 speakers in serial without possibly blowing the decoder.  Thoughts??

I will take pictures and post it over the next few days.  I would rate the disassembly of the tender as fairly difficult without marring/breaking any of the plastic (i.e. hoses, toolbox, and other various piping).  I did have help at my local club - some of the guys ended up doing a little bit of damage as well and these are guys with all of the "proper tools."

Re the insides of the tender, the board is essentially the same as an Athearn RTR board.  It has a quickplug that has a DC chip plugged in (same as Athearn RTR quickplug) but it also has an 8 pin on the board as well.  The 8 pin did not have anything connected to it.

I was able to get the tender apart (managed to mangle a few parts - we'll see if I can order them from Athearn).  Thanks.

David-

I received my speaker and tsunami heavy steam for the Athearn Genesis 4-8-4.  Going back to your original response, you mentioned in order to open up the tender to get to the stock board, I had to remove the tool box and its support.  I confirmed this by looking at the schematics that came with the unit.

It was a struggle but I got the toolbox to pop off the support (but not without breaking one of the toolbox's support pins in the base - which keeps it level from where the coal load would be).  What I'm having trouble with is how to pop up that toolbox support board so that I can slide the top off - I cann't get underneath it without destroying the plastic.  Any suggestions?    I was thinking to drill a small hole in the middle and then pop it up.  the hole would be hidden by the toolbox.  I'm assuming I could even buy replacement pieces from Athearn once the install is done.

 Thanks in advance,
